BCA (Bachelor of Computer Application)

Department of Science and computer Application established in the year 2017, with the objective of promoting new areas of science and technology to play the vital role of nodal department for an organization . The department is coordinating and promoting science and computer application activities. The department has major responsibilities for specific development projects and scientific programs.

DURATION OF THE COURSE:

Durations of the undergraduate programmes shall extend over EIGHT semesters (FOUR academic years) for the Associate Degree (Advance Diploma), EIGHT semesters (FOUR academic years) for the regular Bachelor Degree.3

SCHEME OF STUDY:

  • There shall be five theory papers and two practical from first semester to fourth semester.
  • There will be five theory, two practical and one project in fifth semester. There will be four theory, one practical and one project in sixth semester.
  • The project work shall be carried out either independently or jointly (maximum of three students)
  • Medium of Instruction: The medium of instruction shall be English.

SCHEME OF EXAMINATION:

  • At the end of each semester there be University Examination of three hours duration in each of the theory paper/practical.

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION

  • A candidate who has passed the two years Pre-University Examination conducted by the Pre-University Education Board in Karnataka or +2 course from a recognised board in India.
  • A candidate who has passed JODC / Three years Diploma in Engineering of Government of Karnataka or any other examination considered as equivalent thereto shall be eligible for admission.
  • Any student who has passed PUC –II Science, Arts or Commerce securing a minimum of 35% OF MARKS.

    Any student who has passed JODC or Diploma in Egg. (of three year duration of Govt. of Karnataka) with minimum of 35% of marks in aggregate in all the semester /years.

·         BCA department faculty members are well qualified with many pursuing PhD and have cleared k-set (Karnataka state eligibility test).

·         Research being main focus faculties are regularly presenting research paper to name some like IEEE paper, UGC care journal and also encouraging and guiding student in this field.

·         Frequent workshop, conference and seminar are conducted from skillful resource persons like faculties from iit, roorkee to bridge gap between Campus to Corporate.

Students’:

Our students actively participate in extra-curricular activities, sports, theatre etc., both inter college events and won many prizes apart from academic excellence.

HOD – BCA Department

BCA is an undergraduate technical course on computer applications and information technology. The course provides a sound academic base and provides a substantial understanding of concepts in key areas of programming and networking through which advanced career in technology field can be developed.

BCA also paves way for post-graduation in relevant field.

Department of computer Science, established in 2017 aims to provide sound practical skills, addressing problems which arise from computer systems and applications development. Special Value-Added Program (VAP) on advanced and latest technology is introduced in each semester for training the students for the future IT sector requirements. 

The focus is on complete governance pertaining to students’ academic enrichment, holistic development through designed interventions, faculty research and academic progression and innovation through societal inclusiveness and an eye for developing society-conscious citizens.

Workshop on data science using machine learning was conducted on 10 June,2024 between 9am-2pm in computer lab. Resource person Rajendra Nayak, regional head, Edvpinnacle conducted the session, students were briefed about ML Algorithm. Then in practical session implementation and explanation of many ML algorithms was done.

 

  

Students had an opportunity to meet Mr. Sarvajith SK Application Support Engineer in Suveechi Technologies, on 14th June 2024 to learn how DBMS is used in industry and how the industry works after education. The resource person lightened about why to learn the subject and was insightful about how to begin working in industry.

  

The department of BCA had planned to conduct Value Added Certification Program Course Data Analytics for BCA 1st year 2 nd Semester students in college premises from Mega Power Enterprises from Rakesh Shing. Students had a full-time guidance on the topic and had hands on experience about the same.

 

Internship and Value-Added Certification Program for BCA C1section was started. Apart from curriculum the students hadthe privilege to have an internship program on Java Full StackDevelopment. This trending program has given studentsoverview on how industry expects thegraduate student tobe.

On Saturday, 14th September 2024, the BCA Department hosted a guest lecture on the topic “8085 Microprocessor” from 10 AM to 12 PM in the third floor seminar hall. The lecture was delivered by Amitha SK, an Assistant Professor from the Department of AIML at BMSIT & M, Yelahanka.


 

“Guest Lecture on ‘Development of API’ by Raghu Prasad K S successfully conducted on 23rd August 2024, from 10 AM to 12 Noon at the 3rd Floor Seminar Hall.”

BCA students had the incredible opportunity to embark on an industrial visit to ISRO on April 1st and 2nd, 2024. The visit offered a firsthand glimpse into the cutting-edge technologies and groundbreaking research at one of India’s premier space organizations. It was a transformative experience, enriching their understanding of space science and technology.

Students of BCA C1 had an opportunity to interact with placement department co-ordinator Mr. Wilson Sir on 03 April, 2024

Internship and VAP classes for BCA C1 section was started.

Students had an opportunity to meet Mr. Sarvajith SK on 14th June 2024 to learn how DBMS is used in industry and how the industry works after education.

 

Students were guided by MR Nagesh N on how to prepare the final Sem internship report. What are the requisites from students’  end. Students gained knowledge on the same.
